Tucked away in a narrow backstreet in Barcelona’s El Poblenou neighbourhood stands a mysterious, almost life-sized polystyrene replica of Auguste Rodin’s masterpiece, The Thinker.
There’s not much information available online about the statue which appears to have been created by a company that built theatrical props, scenery, and backdrops and used to have a workshop at number 3, Passatge d’Olivé.
For years, the replica sat on the workshop’s roof, where it became a popular local landmark known as The Thinker of Poblenou.
When the workshop was torn down to make way for apartments, the neighbours decided to save the statue, and it was moved to number seventeen, a single-story house further down the street.
Apparently, the building’s owner even repainted the concrete balustrade surrounding the roof terrace to match the statue’s colour.
